March is Multiple Sclerosis Education & Awareness Month. This month our model role model is Mierka Girten, a Chicago actress living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Her foundation, Mookie Jam, raises funds for other artists living with MS. Since Oscar time is approaching, we invited Mierka to channel Old Hollywood Glamour as she shares her story.
As women living in the city, especially if we live alone, we all know that it’s important to have common sense and street smarts. While we shouldn’t live in fear, it’s always better to be safe than sorry, especially since statistics indicate that one in five women are sexually assaulted in their lifetimes. Fortunately, organizations such as IMPACT Chicago provide women with the opportunity to confront their fears head on and take control of their own safety.
